What do I need to utilize VoIP in my office?
Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be passed along a communications channel in a given period of time. A high level of bandwidth is required for successful VoIP usage. The exact amount will depend on the size of your company and telecom needs. However, a minimum of a T1 is recommended for quality.
Internet Access Device: Some connection to the Internet is required for VoIP to function. You can utilize a cable modem or a specialized adapter, depending on your sending/receiving device, i.e. telephone or personal computer.
Sending/Receiving Device: A telephone or personal computer with a microphone will act as a traditional telephone for sending and receiving calls. Often, the phones you currently have in your office can be used with a simple adapter.
